THE ART OF HOSTING AND HARVESTING CONVERSATIONS THAT MATTER
Everything is changing. Radical shifts in our ecological, social, political, emotional and economic landscapes are required. The long view, the future, is present to us now. We have choices to make. What new ways of being and doing will serve us and our planet?
To imagine and respond to the new world that is emerging we need to learn to work with ourselves and others across difference, to have conversations that generate possibilities for a brighter future. Our worldviews, our mindsets and the deepest stories we tell about the world can be remade into new shared paths for walking into the uncertain future together. The Art of Hosting and Harvesting Conversations that Matter (also known as the Art of Participatory Leadership) offers simple and powerful participatory practices, patterns and processes to host generative conversations. These approaches have been used effectively in diverse contexts worldwide to harness collective wisdom, encourage compassionate leadership, and create better social and environmental outcomes. We warmly invite you to join this first 3-day introductory training in Roelands, Western Australia, from 29 March to 1 April 2020. We acknowledge the Noongar people as original custodians of this land, pay our respects to your elders past, present and emerging, and wish to walk alongside you on the path towards reconciliation. |
What will we explore, learn & practise?
The quality of our conversations matters. It determines what we pay attention to, how we engage with each other, and where we direct our time, energy and resources.
The Art of Hosting will invite us to consciously create and host spaces for collaborative conversations that generate wise action in our organisations, communities and families. This training is experiential - you will have opportunities to practise “hosting” various participatory processes and methodologies. The training will support you to host more effective, purposeful meetings, and host groups in complex systems working together to solve their own challenges. The learning includes:
